Harry Cox
Not long ago, we received a delightful letter from a lady named Glenys Wakefield (nee Cox). Glenys lives in Victoria, Australia and very kindly sent us some pictures of her father, Harry, who used to be a pupil at our school. Harry was born in Evenwood in 1909, the son of John Edward and Annie Cox. Harry moved to Australia when he was 18, became a quarryman, joined the RAAF, joined the Department of Defence in 1964 and never returned to the UK. Harry sadly passed away in 1984, but Glenys is currently researching her family history and would love to hear from anyone who knew Harry’s family.
Harry was one of nine children who were, Elizabeth, George, Florence, Alice, John, Margaret, Jane and Mary.
If you know or knew any of Harry’s relatives, we’ll be glad to pass on your recollections to Glenys.
